OEM Supplied versus Intel Provided Generic Software: Intel recommends that you obtain and use the software provided via your laptop manufacturer. Meanwhile, I bought a used Intel Wifi Link. I then also adjusted my wireless router so that the antennas point to my usual location. I then installed the default OEM software that was provided with the laptop. This feature is available on Windows 7 only. I ended up completely removing all of the wireless software and drivers. The Intel My WiFi Technology application is not supported for Windows Vista*. Features removed from this version: Wake on Wireless LAN is not present in this version of the application. The following links will assist you in determining which wireless adapter is installed in your computer system. Please ensure that your wireless adapter is supported by this download. Follow these steps to check if your operating system is 32-Bit or 64-Bit. Confirm that you have Windows Vista 32-Bit operating system before installing. Confused about what to download? This software is recommended for end-users. It is either the product is faulty, which has been out of warranty in my case, or Windows 7 64bit is showing what it is once again. However, I didnt use wireless as intensively on this laptop as now. I dont remember I had this with Windows 7 32bit. Purpose: Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software is recommended for end-customers, including home users and business customer who do not need advanced IT Administrator tools. I have switched to Windows 7 64bit recently.
